About The Mission
Drewstown House Trust is a Christian camp and retreat centre that accommodates children from disadvantaged areas in Ireland. There is a new church plant at Drewstown and their vision is to become a centre for training Christian leaders for the ministry in Ireland.
This mission is on our doorstep and now more than ever, Ireland needs to hear the gospel of Jesus Christ and His saving grace. You do not need to get on an airplane to go to the mission field. Drewstown is about two and a half hours drive from Belfast.
Drewstown House in County Meath is a large Georgian house on 68 acres of land; built between 1730 and 1760 as a private residence for the McVeigh family. In 1952 it became a Christian orphanage and school but has been used as a Christian camp and conference centre since 1989. It has been formally operated by Drewstown House Trust since 2002.
About The Work
Like many old buildings Drewshown House has suffered from neglect and lack of funding for many years. Desi Wright, who has served on LIFT projects in the past, is now helping with the restoration of this building to the glory of God. He has asked if LIFT could assist with a team for a week to get some of the building finished and ready to receive children and leaders this coming summer. Nearly all trades are required.
